A drizzle at the dawn brought about an idea for today as it is not
going to be a day with scorching hot sun. Then I thought of sleeping a little
more as it is going to be the final day of the vacation. After waking up around
9.30 am as usual morning routine I checked my phone for the new texts from
friends one group chat has a photo of a church ruins. I thought it to be photos
of the Notre-Dame church and then scrolled down to see the most unexpected and
tragic event of my whole life. This is not another report, just some thoughts
built up as the day went by.
I could not stop my tears.
We are a small country. Despite
the need of small fraction people to break us apart for selfish short-sighted
reasons, we have friends in all nationalities and all religions. We are Sri
Lankans; not Sinhala Buddhists or Tamil Catholics. We are Sri Lankans. We share
the same sky and we breath in the same air. We study together, eat together and
during fasting season we engage in it with our friends. That is how large our
scope is. We are proud to say the number of friends we have around the country
because we are friends.
As the morning sunlight pierced
through the rainy clouds it brought all those panic and sadness to us. The
requests for blood donations were met by the afternoon as there were
overflowing crowds at the blood bank. Once again it reminded me of how proud I
am to be a Sri Lankan despite the tragic reason behind the reason for blood
donation.
So as my previous post it is
once again needed to say, We all as Homo sapience descended to land from a tree
tops to act like the most intelligent being on earth. We developed a language
so we can talk things through. We chose democracy over kings killing on another
for power. We chose parliament system to select people to represent us. We live
by rules and norms. We learn to respect people. That is how we intellectually
developed as Homo sapience. So let's hope no one need to reverse those steps
and everyone will go forward..!!
